1. Introduction

Welcome to RankWriting ("we", "our", or "us"). We operate the website www.rankwriting.com and provide an AI-powered content generation service for WordPress sites. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

• Account information: name, email address, and password managed via Clerk authentication.
• WordPress connection information: your WordPress site URL and the connection credentials issued by the RankWriting connector for publishing content.
• Content inputs: industry, topic, keywords, and other inputs you provide to generate articles.
• Payment information: processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details.
• Usage data: number of articles generated, subscription plan, and activity logs.

3. Google User Data

If you choose to connect a Google account, RankWriting requests read-only access and may collect and store the following Google user data:

• Your Google account identifier and email address.
• Google Search Console properties and aggregate search-performance data, including queries, pages, dates, countries, devices, clicks, impressions, click-through rate, and average position.
• Google Analytics property and web-stream metadata, plus aggregate event and landing page metrics such as event counts, sessions, engaged sessions, and key events.
• An OAuth refresh token, encrypted at rest, so the connection can continue without asking you to authorize every read.

RankWriting does not request permission to modify your Google Analytics or Search Console data. The Google Analytics integration does not collect individual visitor identifiers or raw user-level sessions.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the RankWriting service
• Generate AI-written articles and publish them to your WordPress site
• Process payments and manage your subscription
• Send you service-related notifications and updates
• Enforce our Terms of Service and prevent abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

We use connected Google data only to provide user-facing features that you request: displaying search and analytics performance, identifying content opportunities, supporting website-specific recommendations, and providing relevant context to RankWriting assistant features. We do not use or transfer Google user data for advertising, sale, credit decisions, or training generalized AI or machine-learning models.

5. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing

We use the following third-party services to operate our platform:

• Clerk — user authentication and session management
• Supabase — database storage for your connections and article history
• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
• AI inference providers — content generation and user-requested assistant features
• Unsplash — royalty-free images included in articles
• YouTube Data API — optional video embedding in articles
• Google APIs — optional Google Search Console and Google Analytics connections
• Vercel — hosting and infrastructure

We do not sell Google user data. Relevant aggregate Google metrics may be processed by our hosting, database, and AI inference service providers only as necessary to deliver the visible RankWriting features requested by the user. We do not permit those providers to use Google user data for advertising or generalized model training.

RankWriting's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

6. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Supabase databases with row-level security policies that ensure each user can only access their own data. Google OAuth refresh tokens and RankWriting connector credentials are encrypted at rest. Google access tokens are used only in server memory for the current request and are not returned to the browser or included in assistant traces. We use access controls, tenant ownership checks, HTTPS, and other safeguards designed to protect connected data, but no system is completely secure.

7. Data Retention and Google Connection Deletion

We retain your account data and generated article history for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it longer.

You can disconnect Google Search Console or Google Analytics from the corresponding RankWriting connection page at any time. Disconnecting stops future access and deletes the stored OAuth credential for that connection. Previously synchronized aggregate reports may remain in your RankWriting account so historical features do not disappear; you may request their deletion at any time by emailing support@rankwriting.com. You can also revoke RankWriting directly from your Google Account permissions.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Object to or restrict processing of your data
• Data portability

9. Cookies

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to maintain your session and remember your preferences. Authentication cookies are managed by Clerk. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect service functionality.

10. Children's Privacy

RankWriting is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new policy on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
