Internal Linking Strategy

Internal linking is one of the most underutilized yet impactful SEO tactics. RankWriting automates it using vector similarity matching.

How automatic internal linking works

  1. ·At generation time, the article's topic and keywords are converted to a vector
  2. ·That vector is compared against your published articles' vector index
  3. ·The 3 most relevant published articles are identified
  4. ·Links to those articles are inserted naturally at appropriate points in the new article

Brand page linking

Beyond article-to-article linking, the system also matches your site's key brand pages (product pages, service pages, etc.). Configure your site URL in Brand Profile and the system scrapes and indexes those pages automatically.

Manual internal links

In the generation settings, you can specify internal link URLs manually — useful when you need to drive traffic to a specific landing page:

  1. ·Expand the Links section
  2. ·Add target URLs and descriptions under Internal Links
  3. ·The AI finds natural anchor points within the article and inserts the links

Internal linking modes

  • ·Off — No internal links added
  • ·Auto — System auto-matches from your published content
  • ·Manual — Only uses the URLs you specify
  • ·Auto + Manual — Combines both sources

Tips

  • ·The more published articles you have, the richer your internal link network becomes
  • ·Make sure your Pillar Content receives links from multiple Cluster articles
  • ·Avoid over-linking: 3–5 internal links per article is a good target
