Troubleshooting
Connection issues
Site shows as Disconnected
- ·Confirm the RankWriting plugin is activated, not just installed
- ·Go to WordPress → Plugins → Installed Plugins and verify the plugin status is Active
- ·Generate a new Connect Token (old tokens expire after 15 minutes) and reconnect from the plugin settings page
REST API error / 403 Forbidden
- ·Some security plugins (Wordfence, iThemes Security) block REST API requests
- ·Whitelist
rankwriting.comin the security plugin's settings - ·Temporarily disable the security plugin to confirm it's the cause
Connect Token expired
Go back to Dashboard → Sites → Add site and generate a fresh token (valid for 15 minutes).
Generation issues
Article stuck in "Generating" for more than 5 minutes
- ·Refresh the page; if the status is still Generating, open the Posts list
- ·Click Regenerate to trigger a new attempt
- ·If it keeps failing, contact support with the article ID
Generated article is in the wrong language
Confirm the Language field was set correctly before generating. Check Supported Languages for notes on per-language quality.
Content is too generic or doesn't match my brand
- ·Ensure a Brand Profile is configured for the target site
- ·Upload relevant materials to the Knowledge Base and select it during generation
Publishing issues
Publish fails with "Post creation failed"
- ·Verify the WordPress user role is Editor or Administrator
- ·Check whether the WordPress site is in maintenance mode
- ·Ensure the RankWriting plugin is on the latest version
Featured image not appearing after publish
- ·Check WordPress media upload limits under Settings → Media
- ·Verify the uploads directory is writable
SEO meta not saving to Yoast or RankMath
- ·Confirm Yoast SEO or RankMath is activated
- ·RankWriting writes meta via standard REST API fields, compatible with Yoast and RankMath v3.0+
